I saw a wheeler dealers a while ago and Ed was saying not to put synthetic oil in old box`s and rack`s as the seals can react to this so I plumped for dexron II.darkchild wrote:Yep, it'll be fine. Dexron III has largely replaced Dexron II.

This the same Ed that crowed about the power increase from fitting a cone filter to an E30?
Total bullsh*te.

Unless this will totally ruin my box then I will be using it.

Dexron II was the original autobox fluid for an E30, along with 20W-50 mineral oil in the engine, and both are fine now, but few would use that spec. of oil in the engine these days if they care anything about the car, and Dexron III is an improved, backwardly compatible upgrade over Dexron II.
