I just bought a perfect new boot lid. it is off of a late plastic bumper 320i. I want to take the 320i badge off. Any hints on getting it off without wrecking the paint? Heat gun? Plastic spatula?

I've always used dental floss to get in behind and 'saw' through the adhesive when debadging. Then AG Tar Remover brings any remaining residue off

Hot air gun helps, but obviously, don't overdo it.

i use cotton thread doubled over a good few times so it won't snap, get the thread behind the badge and cut through the glue in a sawing motion then use turps or petrol to get the residue off the bootlid .
if your a convertible owner you can use nail varnish remover instead

Thanks. The dental floss snapped so I used fishing line and it went well. I just need to get the glue residue off. The turps sound like a good idea, but turps damage the paint?

Bit of heat, and most of the adhesive would have come off with the badge.
Turps won't hurt the paint, and a bit of work will probably be needed with cutting compound in any case, to remove the 'shadow' caused by unfaded paint where the badge was.
