My search for the right ratio diff at a sensible price continues (see here http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=233850)

There are one or two other on ebay, but:

This one looks to have gone down with the titanic

And this one is £520!

Anyone got any other suggestions for getting the right ratio diff... Anywhere I can buy new internals for instance?

Cheers

I have an open medium case 3.07 that you could build a LSD into. I want £100 for it

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I make an LSD out of it...?

You swap a LSD centre into it , using the original case and crown wheel and pinion. Gareth on here is the man to contact re diff work / repairs.

3.07 is rare in a medium case, they were only used on some 525 etas. The 3.07 LSDs in the above Ebay postings are big casing diffs from 535s and contrary to what the ads say , they will NOT fit an E30 without MAJOR mods. Their internals are not compatible with medium case diffs either.

The top ebay diff (bridgemotorworks) will not fit an E30 but the internals can be swapped into an E30 case by a specialist, Gareth would be my first choice

The second rusty f00ker (nice man from Barnet!) will never fit as its a large 210 diff

The rusty one won't fit, as Dan rightly says, but a couple of days in an electrolysis tank (with the breather just above the surface), would bring that up bright and shiny!

Sorry to clog up your post greggers, but you now know to look out for a 6 bolt bearing housing on a e28 diff, thanks to willnz
