Hiya

Can anyone recommend someone to redo the headlining on my hardtop - im thinking of getting this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280581001385? ... 1423.l2649

Will it be ok to have it stuck straight on the roof or will it need a spongy backing?

Cheers

hi mate.

Re-lining a hardtop isnt easy as it looks. As mine needs doing. I spoke to 3 upholstry guys and they all quoted me £450 minimum as all the rubbers are all glued and the window needs to come out. not an easy job

im waiting for the summer to get mine done

there are a couple of guides floating around on the net...and it didn't look too hard..from what i remember the rear screen didn't need to be taken out but blunt knife / spatula was used to tuck the material in....at £450 i would attempt it myself before taking it to a retrimmer. At least you would have already taken it apart so could knock a bit off the price

When i first got my hardtop it was sagging a little. I undone the roof lining which was sagging. Took away the foam which was all perished. Cleaned it up and used spray glue to tuck it all back, was good for a week. Then started to sag again. So i may just get it professionally done in summer.

I know its a rip of.

But what if we do a group purchase, maybe get it a little cheaper if more than 1 person gets theres done??

Spray glue does work, but the remains of the foam which has disintegrated needs to be cleaned well away first. If you spray it on the remains of the old glue, it will pull away again. I've seen the results in Germany, and its good.

I'm currently looking for someone who will undertake this work on the basis of : Remove original healining, clean off original foam, fit new foam backed headlining without removing rear window and seals. Target is £200 or under!
