Higher Octain higher Temp?

Since October I have been running the car on RON99 Unleaded rather than 95. I know the car is not able to adjust it's timing but I thought I see what the car runs like with the stuff.

Because of the higher octain the fuel will burn at a higher temp would this also cause the engine temp to be slightly higher or would it not have any effect on it? Also because it's burning at a higher temp am I right in thinking it will be burning cleaner and would reduce carbon build up ect?

The reason why I am asking is that the car is running really really well and the only thing I have noticed is the engine temp is running higher. I've checked the usual bits to make sure it's not the head gasket and the pipes are all ok. Finally I know people have claimed that they find they get a better return on the tank but I am still getting 230 miles per tank regardless of my driving and would I be doing any harm to the car using the 99 petrol?

Higher octane fuel will not burn at a higher temperature.

Typically the hotter an engine becomes the more efficient it becomes. However the components used within the engine cannot withstand in theory 'optimum' temperatures, and things begin to go wrong!

A piston threw the side of the block i would imagine that would be from something else and not running a higher octane fuel the only difference you will feel in a 325i e30 using this fuel is a lighter wallet

Running a higher octane fuel in an E30 than is required has NO effect at all on anything except your wallet.
If it does, then there is something seriously wrong with your car, as it must have been 'pinking' on the lower octane fuel.
It will be running 'better, at this time of year, as the inlet air is colder, and hence denser, than in summer, and as stated above, the hotter the engine the better, right up to the point it self destructs.

Spot on, thats probably why it feels so much nippier than before

do the hot water delete off the throttle body that will make some difference
