The main thing you would need to check it if the both have either a two piece or three piece exhaust. If youve got one of each you would need to change the whole shebang.

aside from that they will fit,
i started with a exhuast i had from a 86 325I coupe as a doner,
wouldnt fit,
this a 3 peice, you have manifold, centre pipe and box,
the rear section is in 2 parts,

the cabby exhuast had manifold, mid section and box, then rear section and silencer as a one piece ..
they looked the same in theory, but when i came to fit them, it wouldnt have it,
so if the touring has a 2 peice pipe,
im ok ?

pre sept 87 cars use a smaller downpipe flange and manifold, hence the non fitting for the 86 donor parts

the rest as per Mayze above, swop it all for a guaranteed one time fix.
