I agree that it does look a lot like Mauritius ( ) blue. Maybe in fact the 'Neon Violet' was a Daytona Violet painted car with 'neon' interior styling. The fabric pattern is an identical (but violet) version of the green version in Daimlerman's cabby, for instance.

Would be interesting to know. . . .

I had a '95 525i sport in daytona violet and half leather milpoint sport seats. It is a fantastic colour when washed and polished. Around that time these neon cabbies and limited colour/interiors must have been the start of the BMW individual range.

We already have the rarest!
Now that is interesting, it seems the 2.8 M30 option was a rare thing in any form, was this because the bang to buck ratio was stronger for the 3.5 M30 as the conversions nearly cost the same and involved a similar amount of work? It would be nice to know if there is any more of my car knocking about too but as we know getting information from Hartge is like platting pee pee...
The M30 powered 210bhp Alpina B6 2.8 was made is relatively large numbers with over 200 LHD ones being produced at it was developed to sit in the middle of the 170bhp C1 2.3 and the 260bhp B6 3.5 and was dropped not in '85 due to the iminent release of the C2 2.7.

The solitary RHD example was comisioned by Sytners for evaluation with a view to selling them in the UK but as the C2 2.7 was due to be release less than a year latter it was decided against.

I guess if they released a RHD B6 2.8 earlier on it may have sold well in the UK.

Loving the red neon rears / blue and black pvc (? winkeye ) interior combo on this one, Alex. This MUST be the rarest E30 with all that going on

Anyone know how many, or what sort of proportion of total M3 production was non-sunroof, I don't think I've ever seen another outside of motorsport, and pretty sure they were standard fit on uk market cars.

Also, was it the e30 which featured in adverts stating how many millions of possible combinations there were to customise the car to your exact spec? Must be a fair few around that are the only car in that exact spec even if they're not a rare model as such.
cheers,

Paddy It's not that mint!

I'll have to get the touch up stick to it in one or two places this

summer winkeye

On a serious note though I'm rather chuffed with it, and it's

original apart from an AA badge and a period M Tech steering

wheel, oh and a bit of bodywork after an idiot ran into it some

years ago
