Well there is known to be a H27 SP built by Birds according the info James Bird posted while all the crap was kicking off over Ata's Hartge.

I'm just updating the Hartge Wiki page at the moment and I've added the info in a table on that page, http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Hartge

Awesome, thanks Steve. Don't think I've ever seen that pic. Would quite like some Hartge ITBs for my B28

I've seen many 'direct to head' type throttle body's.

Can't comment on the SP as I don't know anything apart from there like hens teeth :)

Those throttles are custom cast Steve, no way to do that otherwise. (well apart from maybe moving studs about).

The set up could be replicated with stock bodies and some work but likely wouldn't be cheap.

edit to add - some heads with webber twin carb flanges will take throttles direct to head, otherwise the throttles are nearly always custom

i know that weber(webcon) do an intake manifold for ITB's (lost the link  ) but to buy that plus the generic ITB & K6 ecu from emerald would cost about £2400++ then the cost of mapping. IIRC turbo-brown on here had a link in his sig to the blueprints to make your own intake manifold.

IIRC the emerald kit uses 45mm throttles which i would think would be too big but they do use adjustable length inlet trumpets.

here's the link

http://www.emeraldm3d.com/generic-throt ... gines.html

i only ask as i'm looking at eiher buying a ready made kit or building my own up using the diagrams/blueprint's from air-in.co.uk

what size would you say would be best??

45 is too big unless you want to mount them ~300mm from the head, even 40 is a bit big for direct to head.
For a stock b28 direct to head you are looking around 38mm for an ideal so 40 would be your easiest bet.
