325iSE auto, bronzit with heated brown cloth. Ice cold A/C, 15" BBS and an iS front spoiler.

A non sunroof shell with a few scabs on the rear arches but that was it rot wise. 120k and FSH.

It was a gem!

I bet heaps were lost to the scrapage sceme. Most people wouldn't bother keeping a juicey 325i , where as a sport or touring may be given a 2nd chance.

I spotted a clean looking 2 door chromie lurking on a driveway looking neglected near my girlfriends house. Looking clean other than the green moss on the paintwork. Tempted to leave a note about it......

My 2dr turd is scraping from one MOT to the next - Town325i very kindly welded a couple of plates into it on Saturday for the forthcoming MOT - its pretty rough now on the rear arches but the rest of the shell is generally OK.
Aiming for a pass with No advisories this time which I think should be do-able bearing in mind all the work that was done underneath last Year.

Does less than 2k a year now though, dry garaged and not used when there's salt on the roads so hopefully the rust thats there won't get much worse or if it does at a slower than it otherwise would. :D

Can't see me ever spending big bucks to resto it properly - just gonna enjoy it for what it is - an old sh1tter with a lovely sounding B25

Lol, nice, didn't even see that. Come to think of it, I believe that was a 5 series, actually. Would think I would remember if there was another E30 on the block (besides the other one of mine, that is)

Should this be broken? its not a rotton pig far from it but needs TLC/welding in a few of the usual places. I can't weld but this is way to good to scrap imo. its auto. As always its a money thing

It looks better in the pictures

Note the reg guys. it's a relative of the Wheeler Dealers 325i touring?

Si and I are unsure of what to do with it. I agree, it's one of the better ones that we've had. Issues are front corrners of both floorpans, scuttle and rear battery tray / towing eye. Needs a tickle on the rear arches too.

We bought it with breaking in mind but having got it home its actually better than we hoped. Here lies the dilemma.

Do we break it and get a good drink out of it?
OR
Do I sign the V5 over to si and let him rescue it cos I can't be bothered :o:

I agree it does seem a shame to break it but I can't be bothered with welding plates and painting shit anymore. :o: I've spent 30 years with rust in my eyes. My welding days are over.

Also worth mentioning is that it has a fantastic history. The service book is missing :( BUT

Reams of reciepts and most it's old MOT's. Records of

15 Oil changes since 1996. It's had 2 a year a couple of years.
3 cam belts, the last on 2007 at BMW's
New head gasket along with all associated head bolts and gaskets at MAIN DEALER in may 07
New sump gasket, front crank oil seal / gasket and coolant change again at MAIN DEALER in march 07
Full scorpion system fitted by long term owner
BBR starchip with records and reciept

It's honestly one of the most documented histories i've seen.

BBS are in excellent shape with 5 god tyres
OBC (needs a bulb strip)
WORKING HLWW
Virtually immaculate silver comfort trim (it's had seat covers for what looks like the vast majority of it's life.
Central locking working? Check
Electric windows and roof all working? Check
Auto box ok? check
Check control working? Check
Any cooling issues? Nope. I had it ticking over for 1.5 hours this afternoon and the needle never ventured further than dead centre

In fact the only issues it has mechanically is the heater resistor pack and the usual lazy parking wipers!

So, Breaker or not? thats the question

I wish i had the room to store all these shells from cars that get broken up, I could refurb them in my quiet spells and then sell them back to you when even a rotten heap of a shell fetches good money in the future as the RWD escorts do at the mo (and for a while now too).

I have seriously thought about saving a few to properly sort for the future or sell on in an exchange kinda fashion but the value isnt in the cars yet. Good time to buy the shells but sitting on that much scrap waiting for prices to climb could get tedious. Better off just doing the resto jobs for the serious people like Si and Diddler at the mo.

Now M3 shells would be different again winkeye
