Are you ordering a 'fitting kit' or something? Cant you just buy the clips you need individually?

There is usually a quantity listed, or you could count the holes on the kit to be certain

I recently bought a new propshaft doughnut. I can't remember exactly how much it was but IIRC it was over £50+VAT including my 10%.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I think that is REALLY GOOD value. A NEW GENUINE BMW M20B25 Normally-aspirated straight six engine. This is a bargain!

Which dealer quoted this?
How much is it to fit?
A FULL REBUILD is much more expensive? How much is a rebuild?

My E46 323Ci Coupe Manual gearbox had an oil pump failure. Some of the engine internals are damaged. BMW (Berry Chiswick) dealer quoted £8000ish to find a NEW GENUINE BMW M52 Normally-aspirated straight six engine. The car has FBMWSH with 125000 miles!

A E30 is still a BMW. NEW Genuine BMW parts are still expensive like the newer BMWs!

Just be thankful BMW E30s are so much cheaper to buy than E46 cars especially E46 M3 Coupes!

I've recently done a full rebuild using mostly genuine BMW parts, including a new camshaft, for £1700 all in.

Reality check? It's not like an iS costs a lot to run dude, why are you putting Halfords shite in there?

For the sake of £18 I'll go genuine.

Yeah best to put in NEW GENUINE BMW parts as much as possible! There is a two year UNLIMITED mileage warranty with the parts as well.

My price shocker is for E30 325i Sport MTechnic I Manual gearbox:

Limited Slip Differential: £1500 + VAT
Close-ratio Manual gearbox: £2200 + VAT

(if a Normally-aspirated straight six M20B25 engine is under £4000 that is a BARGAIN!)

I know this isn't on the scale of some prices but £22 for 13 tiny bulbs seems pretty steep to me.

Nah. Pound a bulb isn't that nuts in light of other stuff.

I bought a pack of like 50 of those bulbs on eBay for £5 or so.

Sorry, only just seen this post. :o:
I did all the stripping and re-assembly, except for popping the pistons and crank back in the block and lapping-in the valves which the machine shop did as part of their "package".

I quite impressed myself actually. From having a short motor and a pile of bits on the floor, I had it all in and running again in under 18 hours. If you ever saw the speed I normally work at you'd be impressed too. :D

Had a little bit of a cry today.

Anyone rebuilding an M50 be aware that the chain tensioner is £50 odd plus vat from BMW. Also they are not stocked by any of the aftermarket specialists.
Febi do them but charge any of the aftermarket supliers a £15 carrage on single items.

Also the only aftermarket timing cain comes with split links, which i dont like the idea of. Dealer parts only for most of the rebuild

BMW prices are ok actually.. I've just bought a Mk1 Focus RS and the parts for that from Ford are horrendous.. here is just a few items..

Front Brake pads.. £350+
Weighted front pads, (quieter) £400+
Front wing... try nearly £1k!!! UK M3 Evo Sport wings are under £200 and are even more exclusive!

Sir Henry.. it's a bleeding FORD FOCUS ffs!

Mine doesn't need front wings, but I like to gather these parts while they are still available.

That is absolutely extortionate pricing from Ford (assuming it is Ford you are buying it from)!
