Wasps are preferable to Saxo owning.

If it is an M10 engine, then you can (fairly easily) get a reliable 190bhp from that.
Cams, carbs, manifold and some headwork larger valves.
really?? not sure about that.

Tim_is has a 2.1L 318is which is a 16valve (not 8valve like M10), and puts out just a bit more than that.

I agree its a great engine especially for its age, and still has its place especially if you like your carbs, but I disagree with your definition of fairly easy.
Yep, I'm sure...I had a 2002 for racing in the old BMWCC series and that put out 195bhp on twin Weber 50DCO carbs with a Shrick 316 cam and an Alpina manifold.
It is now residing in a road car (2002)...
There were 02s on slide throttles putting out a bit more power than that, too (about 220bhp is the limit, though) and an S14 M3 crank fits and allows a 2.3 M10 capacity.

It wasn't especially cheap, but it was possible and *very* reliable upto 8000rpm!
1987 Henna Rot M3 (was 195bhp CAT..now more and no cat)
