Hi Gents,

Finally sorting the rust on the rear end of my e30. Rear boot lock and passenger side 3/4 are fully holed so im replacing with genuine panels.

Ive long since preferred the prefacelift rear lights and the look of the rear end. Ive been thinking i could replace the rear 3/4 panels and boot lock panel with pre facelift parts? I would be doing the wheel arch inners anyway so could do the lot in one.

I know id obvously be making more work for myself but i think it would scratch my itch for an early car rather than changing mine.
Thoughts/recomendations welcome.
Cheers,
Matt

Yes you could - it has been done before, though usually the other way round! Bear in mind that the distance from the top of the rear tyre to the wheelarch differs by about an inch or so (wheelarch sits a bit lower on the facelift cars).

It's a fair old job. Battery tray/boot pockets are different.

At the end of the day, you would spend a lot of money and effort and have a mongrel on your hands.
