They can't have been that bad if they last 40+ years and so many, including mine, are still in everyday use. Quality First, I think you'll find, old bean!Grrrmachine wrote:As to the other scrap - Morris Minors have been cheap shit since they were new.
+1 I find it astonishing there are unrestored, albeit shabby, Minors in everyday use still in London at 50 years old. Not my cup of tea but they must be tough as boots!Speedtouch wrote:They can't have been that bad if they last 40+ years and so many, including mine, are still in everyday use. This. By "cheap shit" I mean they were sold cheaply, driven cheaply and fixed cheaply - which means they'll always be cheap. I can't think of a single "classic" car that was sold as a bargain basement offering when new that now commands mega-money... other than the MkI/II Ford Escorts. And for every Escort that sells for 25k, there are a hundred Morris Marinas or Hillman Avengers rusting in a lockup because the owners couldn't even flog 'em for 500 quid.pacerpete wrote:Them everyday use Minors will be like triggers broom. The reason there are still a few around is that they made them for over twenty years, they are cheap to buy and very simple and cheap to fix.
How about £15,000 for a Fiat 500?Grrrmachine wrote:I can't think of a single "classic" car that was sold as a bargain basement offering when new that now commands mega-money... other than the MkI/II Ford Escorts.
True. You can't pick up a new M3 for less than 56k and I see one every now and then. So people must have the money for them.pony wrote:I think Pacer had one for £10k.
Depends what u call cheap.
Expensive to you maybe cheap to someone else and vice versa.
