Strips were probably OK - it's the surface preparation that's important. If you stick the strip to a film of whatever is on the base material (bumper, rear panel, or numberplate) the strength of the bond is the strength of the bond between the film and the base material.

Used to work for Avery Automotive at Thurrock and their range of d/s tapes were very good, particularly "666" and if surface prep was good and clean (and I mean clean!) you could not budge it (excessive heat might)
3m is good but foam tapes have to rely on the "shear" strength of the foam. Good luck

As Mr Moooore said Shak
Make sure both surfaces are really clean. No dust, polish, silicone.
Always found 4 strips vertically ( 1 inch each) should do the job. 3m is fine green stuff.no need to get complicated.
Clean with methalated spirits first.... and if that dont work at least you can drink the rest of the bottle whilst you whack a few 4'Nails in!!!

What you need is a product called "Tissue Tape". This is a very thin double sided tape ideal for your needs. Check it out on the following website: www.ukpos.com
10mm roll or 20mm options.

Agh feels good to be back on here. Have been busy getting married. But now life (hopefully) restores back to normal; working on my touring.
Have a look on here. Never bought double sided tape off them but their gaffer tape is good.
