Always been a fan of the 300ZX myself
look a bit of a heavy lump in some respects but I love the shape and so easy to get decent increase in power without spending stacks.
my old man worked for a garage that did grey imports, he ran the workshop. They had a 300ZX that some 23 year old kid bought. It was putting out not far short of 500BHP. Needless to say with the adjustable boost this kid just kept it on the highest setting and cained the car everywhere, so he was a frequent visitor to the workshop with problems.
My old man had to end up sourcing a 2nd hand engine from a breakers after the kid buggered the original lump. By putting in the other engine my old fella thought it would produce less power than the one that had been tittied up. However the 2nd hand engine ended up producing even more power, all the increases must have been due to the bolt on ancillaries rather than the internal parts.
They put the other engine in and tore up the warranty in front of the kid! The old fella took it out on a road test on the A11 in Norfolk. Apparently someone in an E36 M3 came up behind him at about 80MPH and latched himself onto the rear end of the nissan. The old fella buried the loud pedal and this thing apparently lit up the rear tyres and the M3 was history.
Personally if you like your Skylines and want the RWD action (Karan!) I would go for a nice late S14 200SX - a lot of the mechanical components and suspension setup etc is very skyline like, plus you get a decent wallop of power out of the box with RWD as standard, cost a lot less than a Skyline to buy and will be comparatively newer, you won't have the insurance problem of grey imports and 300+BHP is relatively cheap to attain.
Apologies for the long post!!
It's 2.25pm Friday afternoon - I'm at work, shouldn't be on here but aim to shed my newbie status before I go home at 5!
