Hi - first post.

I want a car just for the track - decided on an e30 but a bit lacking in knowledge.

Firstly:
I believe its best to have a limited slip diff - is this on the sport 2 door & not on the 4 door?

I will partly strip out (needs to be road legal) & add improvements over a year or two whilst at the same time using it. I suspect the sport 2 door is best but harder to find & more expensive - but is the 4 door just as good once you weld the back doors up.

I think it will be much cheeper to make the right choice of car now rather than half way through when I've thrown money at it.

Any advice welcomed

Cant wait! :D

I went for a 4 door. For my purpose it has to be perfectly able as a road car and serve as a track car every so often.

In Australia when I bought the car I paid about $4000-5000 (Aus dollars) under what 2 doors were going for.

I suppose it all depends on how hard you want to push it towards the track side of things in the street/track equation.

At any rate:

A mate and I went through the same thought process earlier this year. http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ic&t=95781

We bought a 4 door which is currently being prepped. Haven't bothered welding the doors up though.
