525i engine into 320i???

Hi guys as i previously mentioned i am looking to put a 325i lump into my 320i. Can anyone tell me if a 525i 12 valve unit is the same. I am thinking that it will be easier to find a 525i lump and could maybe get one out of an auto which is less likely to have been bullied. Any help will be great. Cheers

I thought so mate. I will try and find a decent 525 then unless a good 325 comes up. Just want to get a good engine thats been looked afetr as i get the impression i could be in for alot of head problems!!!
