I know it's easy to get wheels professionally refurbished but I like the feeling of doing them myself & their looking good,
Anyone got any recommendations for silver paint / lacquer ??

yes polaris silver is the original colour.
Take your time and if you spend time on the prep work the finish will look better.

Certainly does translate to that ... and that's what BMW use.
Felgensilber comes in a large can without laquer .. at least it did last time I bought some.
