Sub Box Which Way Round?? PLEASE

Guys

I made sure the box is right for the subs now i need help to decide which way to have it round

here's some pic's
Option 1 Under the horse shoe??

Option 2 proper way round??

Option 3 so the subs face u as u open the boot??


Would the subs facing up into the horse shoe mess up the roof??

I have ordered customs grills too

when i had my sub facing the the rear bumber it was causing the boot to flex and the petrol flap to open! i turned it round so its now facing the front of the car and it sounds, feels better than before and isnt flexing the boot or opening the filler flap!

dont face them up mate. you'll get bass reflex and your subs will sound poo. face them to the rear of the car as its a cab and you'll have more air to move aroud.(subs work better that way) use sound dead matting on your boot lid and inner quarters to stop it flexing. oh, put some on your rear pannel too as your number plate will want to fall off. hlh

not sure about cabs but I have heard that it is better to have the box facing the seats on saloons as the bass gets lost facing the boot..

Subs should be in as much "free" air as possible, direction is not important as bass is non directional, the only reason for facing something is so that you "feel" it

Yo, without trying/hearing i would prob go for option 3 - worked nicely in my 2 door i had!!

Best option though is always to fit the subs in the box on a decent length cable and try it in all three positions!! See what sounds best to you!! You're ears that have got to listen to them, doesn't matter what others say if it sounds good to you!

Prob wouldn't be any worse than any other way round - air pressure would be the same!!

Bit of sound deadening and it'll be fine!!

Only thing that always vibrates on e30's is the numberplate!!!!!!

2nd that! I have experimented with the position of my single 12" sub and have got the best results from it facing the rear bumper. As miniblob has said the only thing that will vibrate is the number plate and suround.

Looking at the pics it doesn't look like there's enough space for the box to go flush against the back of the seats...

If this is the case, I would face them towards the back of the seats as you will have more space in front of the subs!

Its always worth a try.

As said here you need to try your own box in your own car because everyone has a different setup.
