i know 2 are for the heater rad but any info on what each pipe in each position is for

From memory.....
The rail which goes along the nearside of the engine block splits into two in a kinda Y piece, one of these is the return for the heater, the other is for the expansion tank. The other hose is flow to the heater.
I think you can look up the hoses on realoem.com and there are tiny arrows in the picture that show flow direction if that helps. Make sure you get the heater flow and return the right way round otherwise the electric valve in the heater box (inside the car) will fail to function properly (courtesy Brainmoooooore).
If you take a look in my thread you can see the mods required to get the hoses in behind the plenum using 19mm ID. silicone hose.

Forgot to mention, if you purchase that Y piece metal pipe for the LHD model of M3 (I may have the part number somewhere). It has a longer section of pipe that crosses the back of the engine block and goes over to the drivers side to enable you to put the coolant tank in the battery tray.
If you go this route, you'll need to fit the pipe onto the engine before you drop it in the car. Unless you are Paul Daniels that is.

Thanx for all the info am trying to get everything ready for installing redone my brakes and few other bits toady tried to spray my engine bay but ran out of thinners so that ll have to be next week ill have a look on real oem see what i can make of it
