My long running central locking/deadlock problem seems to have come to a turning point. The garage that fitted new locks (just before I was completely locked out of the car) have had my car back in for over a week now. They've had an auto-electrician looking at it as they said the hinged bit on the back of the lock was fine. The auto-electrician has deduced that the central locking control box has burned out, and in turn, 4 solenoids have burned out (all except the boot).
I would have thought that there were fuses and stuff to stop things burning out.....am I wrong?
Also, does anyone have a set of four solenoids and a control unit up for grabs??
Solenoids burned out!!

There is a thermal cut out in the locking ECU. Basically a spring soldered to a resistor which heats up when passing current, melts the solder and cuts the power to the solenoids. This should have tripped and saved the solenoids. Or has it been got at sometime?

Brian, I had soldered it back up so maybe I soldered it too well??! Seems odd that it worked fine when it was at the garage after they fitted the new locks (rear doors still wouldn't unlock but the fronts were ok).....then I got it home, locked it, and that was the end of that. Could the garage have done some thing to cause it or am I gonna have to fooot this bill myself?!
Treeman, I am skint as a git at the moment. I can manually opperate the front doors so I may live with it till I can afford to sort it out. Will keep your details. Thanks.

Different alloys of solder have different melting points, so maybe you soldered it with too high temp solder.
Without looking back over all the posts, I tend to think you have a mechanical problem with the lock linkage in one of the doors which is the root cause of your problems.
