Hi folks, I am thinking of getting a second car. It has a personal plate on it and the current owner has no idea what the real index is. How can I find that out to put it back on. Thanks

I've transferred my plate twice and both times the cars have had the original plate reinstated, without me asking.
Once was at Newcastle upon Tyne and the other at Taunton.

How old is the car? Cars over 15 years old will need to go to a DVLA check site for inspection... i assume the car is MOT'd & taxed?

Usually the original plate is put back on, but DVLA will not guarantee this, but it doesn't really matter what plate goes on it really! I also assume the car doesn't come with any original service history?

The BMW dealer might be able to tell you the original ID from the chassis number.

"WO" dint't think there was that much to do, So to get the first plate I will have to take it to a DVLA station, the car is 1991. I will give BWM a ring and see if they can help thanks for the info.
