Any ideas why my 325e won't start,
I must have drained the battery overnight, so took it out and recharged it for 12 hours, put it back in, now there's a red light flashing to the left of the ashtray, and the car won't start, it's not the starter etc as had all this checked by the RAC (AA). Never noticed the light before - what's it for?

Sounds like an immobilizer light. Don't you have an alarm fob or such like?

If this light is linked to an immobilizer or alarm then whatever is used to switch it off would most certainly have helped.

isn't there a primitive immobiliser code function on the OBC. if you've got one im sure brian or one of the other electrical gurus could tell you how to bypass it quickly enuf

It wouldn't be the OBC immobilizer as, if you set it and can't remember the code - the cheat to disconnect it is to disconnect the battery and reconnect it to reset the OBC.

This sounds like an after market jobby but, if it never had to be disarmed in the past, why would it be affecting it now??
