Hey guys, my car has recently started to have a problem when it's idle. It seems to be when the engine is cold. When I start it in the morning the revs move between 900rpm (where it will sit nicely) to about 500rpm or below an then it sometimes cuts out! Also sometimes you can hear a squeaking noise when the revs are bouncing between 500rpm - 900rpm! If i drive the car for a bit, for the engine to warm up it seems to be ok. Any suggestions? Kyle

There can be more than one engine type in a 1.8i, and your username suggests it could be either.
