I had the car MOT'd today and the emmisions were seriously sky high. The technician even joked that my lux cab was the reasons for global warming. Its not really been used in a year, just been dry stored - done around 1,500 miles would a real good blast for 10 miles or so clean her out? some say it will and some say it wont. its the M40 lump in a 93 cab, any one got any experience with M40 emmisions? (got a cat and is manual, non A/C)

I have an M40 316i (non-cat and manual) and have never had any problems with the emissions. Yes, the CO does need adjustment from time to time, but there shouldn't be any problems on a well maintained M40 engine, and it has always been well below the allowable limits during the NCT (Irish MOT) emissions test.
