can anyone help ive just put a 525 m20 in my 320 using the 5s ecu afm and rest of the bits and bobs ,fired it up and it was pretty lumpy black smoke and running very rich checked round for loose pipes and stuff seems ok pluged scanner in no fault codes present then seemed more and more less willing to run till it wont run any more(also spark seems abit week for my liking) i know its a bit of a how longs a piece of string question but if any one can piont me in the right direction i can stop pullin my hair out :cry:

could it be the blue temp sender? (coolant temp for the ECU)

possible but i,m wondering why its gradually got worse and also it was ok before i took the engine out (but temp gauge not working)

the E30 uses a different temp gauge sender to a M30 powered E34. try fitting the E30 ones to the new engine

you mean the brown one ( e34 2pin) (e30 1pin) ?

yep.

on a M30 swap, you need to swap the 2 pin one for a 1 pin one to get the gauge to work. i assume this is still true regardless of what E34 lump is fitted as it's related to the gauge on the car.

that won't affect the fueling though, but the blue one will.

should be the same but if yours is stuffed, it'll over fuel the car.

wondering if wires are wrong way round coz i changed em round to see if temp guage would work but it still didnt so thought they must be ok (but with with wrong sender never will) mmmm i,ll have a look tomorrow ,cheers mate
