Nice looking chromie Mart!

My first E30 was a 316,i take it that is the carb version,i had one with a weber carb conversion, went quite well for a little car.

Nice honest looking car,my 323i has only 82k on the clock, not bad for a 84 car.

Mine sounds fine mate, even with a massive 73K on the clock.

you fit a weber conversion carb that turns it into a manual choke. I have found the performance out of the little M10 to be pretty good considerings its an age old 1.8.

It does drink the fuel mind if you keep opening the second intake with some heavy right foot though!

You want to try it with an auto box for round town consumption.lol
20-22 but I do live in a very hilly place.

35-38 on a good run.
I even had 40 down in Norfolk, honest!!

Nice looking 316. I had a D plater with the Webber conversion on it. It was no problem and sold the carb after the car was scrapped for around £35. :D
Being of a more mature standing ie 27, I remember cars with chokes but my 8 year old daughter found it funny as no other car she had known had this stick to pull out and push in
The way the cable had been fitted was to the left of the steering column on the lip where the under tray screws to.

lol i hear mixed reveiws about the weber carb its more reliable but some people say it makes no difference in preformance, but i suppose it depends how shagged the electronic pierburg is winkeye

I had a Weber fitted to my first chromie 316' made a big difference to fuel consumption

the conversion meant that I lost the mpg gauge on the clocks which annoyed me

I didn't notice any performance gains, just good mpg and better starting.

In the good old days it used to be said that the cars came with a handbag hook especially for women ie the choke pulled out :teehee:
