My 2.0 was chipped, I chose the 'mild' option.
It pulled better higher in the rev range, it also raises the idle from ~700rpm to ~900rpm.
If you plan future mods (Big bore throttle body/cams etc) then you should choose the wild chip.
If it's just for a bit of extra poke, and to make it run smoother then the mild one would be ok.
I'm putting a 3.5 engine in my car now, but they don't do zone chips for it.

on a standard engine what power gains would either chip give mild/wild,
an would the wild one choke it 2 death with fuel?

You're best off asking Ant about the technical side of it, I'm out of my depth really when it gets really technical about fuelling and so on.
But a wild chip is recommended if you are doing extra mods, so it might be a bit fuel heavy on a standard engine. Like I say though, best to ask him.

I've not used one to be honest....
I'm tempted to get one.
They shield the air intake from the heat in the engine, which is good.
They look very smart and seem to sound good too. But they are expensive!
Best off asking Karan or 6potWil6pot cos they both use them. Or M5Pilot who was organising the group buy.

From the email I got from ant when I bought my chip.
I got the zone 2 chip and it's pretty goodECU Chipping.Post 88 motronic Priced @ Ԛ£55inc delivery for easy DIY fitting
For Paypal use chips@e30zone.co.uk, please include a return address.
We can offer two chips to suit your 6-cylinder e30,
Zone 1: this chip is fairly extreme, it gives much improved response to
throttle inputs, the idle is raised to 900 rpms to aid in smooth progression
from idle to full throttle.
It features a higher (7K rpm) limit and has a unique tweak to help with
acceleration through upshifts, this chip features heavily revised fuel and
ignition curves which remove all the flatspots normally associated with the
M20 engine, an excellent midrange power boost and improved full throttle
response.
This chip has seen gains of 7-12hp on its own, with a similar torque
increase, this really is as good as an off the shelf chip can be, you can
add this chip to a stock engine and achieve good results, however it will
really shine when combined with a bored throttle body, and especially when
used with a cam or in conjuction with a capactiy increase
Zone 2: this milder chip will give increased response throughout the rev
range with idle characteristics similar to the original, this would
typically yield a 4-7 HP gain and improved drive-ability. If you don't plan
any internal engine mods then this ones for you.
This chip also works very well on automatic cars, thanks to the smooth
delivery and almost stock idle

This is extremely interesting - I want one of those chips!
I am planning to change the throttle bodies so I guess the "wild" one is better suited to my plans.
BUT, there is always a BUT
, I mostly to motorway driving and I have to get decent economy on the motorway, will this increase consumption or decrease, and if it increases consumption - will the "mild" one decrease it?
PS, how much does the throttle bodie kit cost?

'zone chips are Ԛ£55 for either the wild or mild
'zone Big Bore Throttle Bodies are Ԛ£120
the chip may not neccearrily increase fuel consumption as you wont need to rev it as hard to make it go
for good economy on motorway driving, fit a lower numbered diff (increasing final gearing)
your 325 should probably have about a 3.91 on it... fitting a longer (lower numbered e.g 3.73, 3.64 etc) diff chould drop the revs at cruising speeds,so you use less petrol

yeah! longer diff plus zone wild chip and BBTB will give probably about the same performance as the standard diff, but with better economy whilst cruising
apparently swapping diffs is fairly simple, so shouldnt be too much of a task

Sounds very nice - and a bargain I think
I lack knowledge, does this enhance a nice engine sound?
