The old girls had a bit of a top end rattle since I bought her. Either valve clearances or the exhaust gasket, yes?

Sorted the valve clearances a couple of weeks back and she ran better, but no quieter.

So today, I've changed the oil in readiness for her 300 mile run down to Newquay on Friday and I spotted a slight gap between the head and the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine..

Hmm.. The nuts obviously not moved as its rusted to high heaven.. The stud must have worked loose from the head? I'll give it a bit of a nip. Nothing too much, and if it resists? Leave well alone.

So, I get out the spanner, give the slightest bit of force, and it moved! Wow, this must be loose.. Result?
