ive decided that instead of taking out my sunroof, im going to cut out the roof skin and replace it with a grp skin. this should make fitting my cage easier. the person making this isnt a business, but i thought i would post it up to see if any of the trackday motorsport people would be interested in one, as the person needs to make a mould for mine. its for a m3 e30, but the part im having made should fit the normal e30s. although a roll cage is a must. anyone interested. he should be coming back to me with a price end of this week.

I'm interested. Of course first I need to know the quality and the price. Are you going to make any other M3 panels from GRP?

im afraid not, im not making this, someone i used to work with, who used to do this proffesionally is going to do it for me. he said that the skin would be bonded to the roof, not sure whether some kind of sikaflex? will post price up when he gets back to me. would have though quality would be very good as he has done this work before.

Of course after removing the original steel skin?
The price will determine my decision.

You have a cage gussetted to the pillars? I wouldn't be overly confident that this is a good idea, but at the same time the strength of the roof is around the edges anyway.

If you get a price then let us know I might be interested, but at the same time I might just make my own lol.

I would check the reg's if you are going to compete in racing or rallying, I think it says sunroof can only be replace with original materials i.e steel roof skin this is to keep the structral strenght of the shell. I also agree with MJG about this not being a good idea. A monocock structure is all about inherint strenght one section braces the next take away the strenght of the roof you mite have problems if you rolled it.

Cage going in soon as I saw a roll first hand and thank god for the cage as they walked away.

Ffian - like the inclusion of the LSD now - made a massive difference to mine on track :D

johnk - not worried about regs as its just for trackdays...

Lloydie lsd is great.. a smooth running engine would be better.. but its being fettled.
