dechromed shadowline trim - insulation tape??

Hi all

i have known a few people who have dechromed their E30 cabs with BLack insualtion tape - i have seen this and it looks good and would prefer this than painting as it has a habit of flaking off after a while - especially on the hood cover....

I am having trouble finding a Black Insualtion tape wide enough to cover the entire trim - most places ive tried only have a standard width....

anybody know where i can get a wider tape from?...need asap!!!

I've been looking for this stuff for ages fella to no joy, I did once consider black duct tape but its got a glass finish and although tape is council, I didnt want to stand out that much.

If you find any, can you let me know please!

Not used it myself.

I replaced the door strip once with a chrome one, sprayed it black with Hammerite Black Metal Spray Paint, then rubbed it down with wire wool to take the gloss off - still looks fine after a few years

If someone wants to measure up the sizes/lenghts/amount you need for the job - I'll be able to supply it at a fraction of that!

(i.e. tell me how many strips @ what length x width approx plus a few mm for trimming and I'll get you a price)

Exactly what I thought Bruce. I supplied Ant with some uncut satin black vinyl for peanuts.

Looked perfect when on the car!

I've just checked how many he's sold so far....

26 'rolls' sold so far and he's still got 21 days left! That's Ã‚£325 in 9 days for some bits of tape!!!

If he sells all 200 rolls, that's Ã‚£2,500!!!

Got 20+ metres of new satin black, so cut into 40mm wide strips, that means I've got 250+ metres to get me started!

Right......who lives in Bristol and fancies a free de-chroming kit for the use of their E30 for a few hours.....

If only you were closer i would come down with my bits of chrome for you to sort out!! - Im in a rush and i have ordered two rolls off the ebay guy - In the future if i get a chrome one that needs dechroming im coming to you Bruce -

I think most zoners would be interested if the price is right - let alone most ebayers...
