My 320i seems be be drinking fuel like its going out of fashion but I can smell fuel from a leek so it must be burning it but why

Helps if we know how many mpg ur getting first but from what i have heard you get roughly the same as a 325i.
Mine around town does about 24mpg but then i dont exactly drive like the local vicar.
When was the last service - Air filter etc?
Are the tyres the right pressure?
Air leaks?
