e30 325isport iluminated gear nob

have all the sports got the wiring 4 the iluminated gear nob under the gear gator, as i have a plug with 2 pins doing nothin and wonderd if thats what it was, any help appreciated! nice one daz.

As far as I know the illuminated knob wasn't around at the time of the E30, the plug could be for the ciggy lighter, maybe it's popped off.

When I fitted an illuminated gear knob to my '89 it came with a plug which was meant to fit onto the two wires running to the cigarette lighter. They didn't fit so I chopped of the plug from the gear knob and spliced into the two wires going to the cigarette lighter. One wire is power the other is for the light surrounding the lighter?! So the gear knob gets power and lights up when you turn on your side/headlights.It will then also be controlled via the rheostat making it darker and brighter.
