the drivers side front window rattles when the roof is down. i have noticed the if i hold at the top rear edge it has a fair bit of side to side movement where as the passenger side is fairly ridged, does anyone have any ideas as to why the window has this movement is there any adjustment that can be done?
thanks

Hi,
Had the same problem myself and I found that you can increase the amount the top edge of the rear window pushes outwards on the trailing edge of the front window. This stopped the windows rattling but you need to be careful the whole thing still lines up ok with the groove in the hood seal.
First take off the rear panel inner trim by taking the seat base out, speaker panel out then 2 cross head screws revealed behind that panel and remove the door seal rear edge which releases the front edge of the rear trim panel. Gently but firmly move the trim panel forwards and upwards to release it from the clips along the top edge - opening the window makes this easier. I always manage without removing the seat belt by pulling it out to give plenty of leeway to move the panel out of the way. You may need to remove speaker wires too depending on how much length you have on them.
Once this is out of the way you can see on the inside of the window, 2 adjustable stops which control the window's closed position at the front relative to the back. Leave those alone unless you have water leak problems or it's not closing as you want it to (if you've got closure problems there's a stop lower down which controls the range of movement of the whole window carriage but we wont get into that now).
If you look down into the mechanism on the inside of the glass itself, you will see 2 threaded adjusters, one at the front and one at the back, which control the distance between the inner panel metalwork and the window carriage. They are fixed in position via locknuts into location points on the inner panel. Slacken the locknuts and using an allen key, turn the adjuster so as to move the top edge of the carriage outwards, away from the inner panel. Maybe no more than half a turn to see what happens. Tighten the locknuts then wind up the rear window and then the front - gently, to ensure the 2 marry up ok and there's no nasty unforeseen effects. Then compare the tension between the two windows at the top, on the 2 sides of the car. The rear one should now be pushing outwards more firmly on the front one. This topped the rattling nicely on mine, but it is a bit of a faff.
I dont think these adjusters are mentioned in the Bentley manual by the way.
Good Luck
