i have an f reg 320i, i have fitted an k&n air filter and a straight through alpina exhaust off my c2, i never drove the car really before these mods but iam noticin a flat spot up to about 2/2500 rpm up to about 4th gear i think, not sure without takin it out right now, the problwem bein it doesnt seem to really take off till i get to thast amount of revs
ne advice wud b helpfull

The 320 is a 6 cylinder isn't it? I don't think the M20 is known for it's low down torque, especially in 2L form. I think they usually need at least 3000rpm before they really get going.
My 323i has a flat spot from idle until about 6500rpm, then the limiter takes over

With mods like a K&N you really need to have the Airflow meter set up by a specialist engine tuner. You may need a ECU remap with the exhaust too, both mods meen that the engine requires different fuelling from standard.
