Hi,
Are the service warning led's in my car just like an egg-timer, or are they actually connected to some functions in my engine?

Best regards

The clock symbol comes on once a year for Annual Inspection, the green/amber/red count down depending on your driving style, so if you thrash it or do alot of stop/start town driving, they count down to the red quicker.

The inspection one works on a timer and lights a year after you reset it. The green lights for the oil change are meant to go off according to how you drive it, but I've no idea how. I like to change the oil every 6k max.

nearly :D
The clock lights up after a year, and the word 'Inspection' lights with it. (to remind you to change the brake fluid e.g.)

Independently from this, the green lights count off, and then the yellow one comes on when a service is due, and the word 'Inspection' lights with it; red light means you are seriously overdue.

These two things can happen at different times, or at the same time (like yours is showing)
