Guys, on my way home from work this morning, the drivers side hub? started to squeek, quite badly, when I turned to the left? I doesn't do this when turning to the right at all...It seems to be breaking fine too, as in, no squeeking upon applying the brake.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated as always??

I'm supposed to be going out today too

well it's either the wheel bearing (but doesn't sound like it)
OR
there might be a small stone trapped between the disc and a pad, so it's rubbing all the time... but when you brake the stone is making as much noise as the pad, so you don't notice it...?

Have you time to take the wheel off and pads too? If you don't, try reversing, and dab the brakes a few times... does that help?

Didn't think of the reversing tbh. good call...

It's not rubbing all the time, when i'm breaking in a straight line it's fine, no squeeking? It's only doing it, when I turn left..

Thanks

Forgot to mention this on the zone, but, one morning when I was on holiday in France last year, the RH front wheel of my car suddenly started producing a loud (enough to make pedestrians turn their heads) pure tone.
The note started as soon as the car was rolling, was unaffected in volume or note by speed, steering, braking or reversing.
I got out of the car (wife driving!) and walked alongside. A really loud pure sinusoidal musical note, unaffected by shaking the car or anything else!!!
By the time we had driven the two miles back to the campsite it had stopped, and I could find nothing whatsoever wrong, or see any evidence when I jacked up the corner and removed the wheel.
No idea what is was, but it hasn't done it since.

I hope i'm having one of those days and it turns out to be bugger all...BUT for some reason, i think there's more to it :?

It's doing it intermittenly (sp) now, can't explain it really. Just that I thought that the squeeking had died down whilst I had been driving it, but upon returning from my dealership, as i was parking the car it made the same noise, but louder? and this also happened as I was driving in a straight line at 1mph...

Any other thoughts to this guys??

This happened to my brother last week,on passenger side.No normal bearing squeel was just a funny noise checked the bearing regardless and turns out it completly collapsed! took 2 hours to get the centre nut off,it was melted on with the heat! Might not be what you have here but sounds very like it.

Beem, your diagnosis sounds about right tbh mate.

The bearing needs doing on mine, but with work and all have been to busy. Will get it done asap me thinks.

When I had it checked out today, matey did say that he thought it was my diff :? as the rear passenger side wheel felt stiffer than the drivers side when turned and he could hear something from the hub/diff? the diff was put in last year, with new oil and all too.

New bearing top of the shopping list for def'
