The front windows in my 325 have stopped working. I just got the car and when I got it from a mate they were not working, he had been using a radar detector which plugged into the lighter socket, so replacing a blown fuse sorted them. But 1 week later and they just don't work, whether the ignition is on or off, doors open or closed etc makes no diference. The fuses all look ok.

What is it likely to be and what should I be investigating? Prior to stopping working, the windows were really slow when putting them back up, don't know if this is due to tired motors, stiff mechanism or both.

Cheers

Do you have factory electric windows or are they aftermarket?
Two clues - Is there anything on the doorcards where the manual winder would be? and how many switches/buttons on the gearlever console?

The windows look original equipment, there are just the 2 bottons on the centre console around the gear lever, there is a small grey disc insert on the door cards where the manual winder would go, so I believe they are original equipment.

Those are retro fitted electric windows, and of the two sets I have come across, all the motors have gone like you describe.
OE windows have three buttons on the console and door cards without a blanked hole.
