Hi guys! For the last two days, my clutch? has been acting up. The typical symptom is a terrible judder at the bite point when shifting down. This is only with matching or near matching revs on the flywheel and driveshaft. I can maintain the judder by keeping keeping hte clutch at the bite point, if I lift the pedal it goes away.
Another constant issue I've had is a whine from the clutch/transmission area when accelerating with high revs from stand-still. Perhaps the easiest way to get this whine audible is to drive forward, brake rapidly - shift into reverse and accelerate quickly.
Appreciate any insight!

Clutch/transmission worries

I'd say clutch on it's way out, the juddering is the release plate not letting go properly and the whine is the release bearing, sit in car and listen, dont select a gear just press clutch, if the noise goes or changes, it is the release bearing, I am thinking new clutch needed mate.

Thanks for the reply, Swindy. If it indeed is the release plate, how much life does it have left?
Regarding the whine, it's not there when idling in neutral. It's more like pulling a cat from its tail when accelerating in first gear or reverse.

I have just changed the frictiondisc wich was wared entirely out. I bought a LuK clutch-kit. There was not much problem changing the stuff.
I did not have any strange noises or low bite point when mine was wared out. I just had problems getting uphill. The speed decreased to just 20-30 kilometers per hour (the rpm's did not go down... the car just wouldn't go uphill like seposed to).
If you have strange noises from the clutch.. I think it is the release bearing, the fork og those other things behind the release-bearing. Or it might be the pilot-bearing.
Hope this helps...
ps: you should change all of the clutch components when you have the transmission off in the first place, except the hydrolics if there's nothing wrong with them (slave and master cylinder).
