I think (feel free to jump in anyone) a 2.7 crank will create low compression, if used with 320 conrods in a standard 325 block.

Haven't a clue on C/R though

Don't be too hasty to assume that lower compression is such a great thing.

If it lowers the CR by just dropping the pistons down the bores, you might still end up with an engine that's as prone to pinging as one with a higher CR.

Keep an eye on the squish band is what I'm saying I guess.

Interesting, and strong sounding :D

Where you getting the rods and pistons out of interest?

Always thought it'd be interesting to see if anything like the rods from a yank V8 would swap straight into an M20 as their massive tuning industry seems to mean you can get a set of 8 steel rods for £400! Four of us get together and that's £300 for an engine set each.......bit of a pipe dream though unless anyone's got the particulars of any American rods?

Hmm, nothig from a chevy V8 (SB)would work Alex, the rods are thin in section ( 2 per journal) haven't seen inside any big blocks yet though

people have used air cooled VW wiseco forged pistons in BMW engines before with slight mods if you can machine stuff then thats some very cheap forged pistons, best you can do with rods for cheap is use the m50 ones if you put them up side by side with the m20 ones they look alot stronger there is a picture on the ticco website
