Get this - if I put a 'sports exhaust' on my 325 - they'll charge me £75 extra :-x

But if I swap in a later 2.5l engine (ie more power but NOT increasing the displacement) there's no extra charge!!

Even if I put in a bigger engine with up to 40% more power (so up to 245bhp) - they'll only charge me an extra £115

I dont get insurance companies, lol

Might be that adding a 'sports exhaust' is a cheap/easy/boyracer mod, where as the time and money involved in an engine change prob shows you more as an enthusiast and you wont be so keen to drive badly and crash.

i looked into this when pricing up the M50 conversion, turned out my insurance would be cheaper. this was explained to me that because the engine was a BMW item, it was not classed as a mod, and that it would easier and cheaper to replace a M50 engine than a M20 engine.....

Ironically, both Churchill and Privilege are underwritten by UKI, so you would expect them to be very similar.
