Strange Problem

The other day, I pulled out to overtake something, and whilst giving it some 'beans' the rev's suddenly dropped - (from about 5000).
Then everything went back to normal.
When I arrived at work, the revs couldn't settle and hovered around idle (+/- 100). It was like the ECU had reset it's self because after about an hour or so of driving everything was fine.
I wasn't too concerned, but it happened again.

Any Ideas?

I have a viper2 chip at the moment, but have had this a while and have had no problems.

just guessing but may be worth swapping out the enngine managment relay - one of the 3 in the relay box attached to the nearside suspension turret.

I had trouble with my old touring cutting out completly and that was the problem
