Ant
Pan to build my short block up over Xmas, i want to build it with a view to Turboing it later , this will be 1st build block run on Nos first 100 to 125 hit , then turbo later ,
I plan to build a 2nd block next year for proper power, ringed block forged l/c pistions , total seal rings etc etc
So this needs to be albe to run N/A first then Forced later once funds allow
So i plan it will be , basic std 2.7 eta spec unless advised different

so my buy list is so far is :
Metric blues h bolts ,
new std 2.5 cam
do i need H/ TENSILE big end bolts, ARP etc ? or mains ??
what was the Turbo drain u used and approx where to drill it (i plan to cap it till i need it )
rest will be new std spec? any thing else i should up grade ? What are std clutchs ok up to ?
cheers F

HI Frank

OK, the weakest link here is the crank, so I'd suggest a low max rpm ceiling for that very reason, 6.5K max

Head bolts are a must have, we've shown over the course of this year that the only true weakness is the torque to yeild items so 100% on those

For the bottom end, the mains can stay OE, but I'd recommend the ARP con-rod bolts as the eta pistons are heavier and when on boost the piston speeds/loads will be high, again 100% on those dude

fpr the turbo drain, 320D turbo oil return pipe is the one to use, part number : 1 142 2 247 301, matching gasket part numberescapes me though, dealer will advise, be aware though that they have modinified this part so it will need 75mm cutting off to clear properly, nice easy mod.

STD clutch will suffice provided you can make boost only above 2.2K, below that the torque may overwhelm it, that said Alex.Lennie, Me and Fozz are running OE stuff without issue.

Cam is a good choice, the tame ETA spec may actually be better though , do you have lift and durationinfo at all M8

HTH- lemme know what you think OK M8 :thumb:

Bril reply and quick
many thanks ANT

i do have two sets of 325 pistions (one seti n a complete good 325 block , so i couls mix and match if sizes are similar ( audi do brill digital calipers at present under a tener, if your eyes need a rest like mine )

from your experiance , will either ETA or or std 325 pistions suffer from top ring land failure , say at 100 bhp over std ?, want to use first block to try to hone the nos system first as i ve already progressive controller , ignition retard box in stock ,
will std fuel sytem /pump surport 100 bhp hit of nos in your opinion whilst still keeping 45psi up , as if pressure dips down , it runs lean =Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£
can u pm me costs for tubro kit & M/S etc to cheers
