random check panel brake light warning

Im getting the brake lights, light coming on randomly on the check panel ,
it seems to happen after heavy braking or like this morning i was on the brakes constantly down a long steep hill in wales .

if i press the reset button and restart the engine all is well can be for days .
so far i have checked all bulbs ,pads ,handbrake adjustment disc etc i also replaced the brake fluid reservoir lid as the connection was a bit iffy

Any ideas .

Mine also does this, very randomly. The break warning light comes on. Break lights fine. Re start car and no worries.

Perhaps a bad earth? Last couple times, mine came on while indicating? having starting and backfiring issues too.

Overhead brake fault light is just for the brake lamp circuit, so pads, fluid, handbrake etc, have nothing to do with this.
Most likely cause of the problem, if you're happy with the condition of the lamp holders, is the brake light switch.

I had this on mine ! turned out to be water in the rear lense due to a small crack at the top ! Bit of clear silicon and all OK.
