This one's got me baffled.....
I've recently retro-fitted electric rears in my Touring.
They work fine from the switches in the console, irrespective of the cut-off switch position.
They won't work at all from the door switches, irrespective of the cut-off switch, and they won't work without having a switch plugged into the door socket.
All the wires going to the door switches are live, but one of these goes dead with the cut-off switch.
I've tried swapping switches with one that definately works (the electric 'roof switch) and it makes no difference. The 'roof switch illumination works, but it didn't when I plugged it into the door plug.
The two cables (black and blue) going to the motor are permenantly live.
The only thing that may be causing a problem is that the console switches are E36 ones. They have one less earth terminal, so two seperate earths go to that one terminal. Surely this wouldn't cause a problem?? .....And if it does, why isn't it a problem on the front windows?
TIA
Stuart.

Bit difficult to suss this without knowing your exact wiring diagram, but both wires to the motor should be firmly earthed with the switches " at rest ". This applies to the front windows as well.
Suggests you have the earth and 12V feed to the console switches the wrong way around.
Pin 1 should be earth, and pin 5 supply.
