Hi everyone
I have a 316 Tourer. The headlamp adjustment has just failed and left the lighting adjustment pointing down as much as it can go. The switch inside the car turns freely, but does not now adjust the haedlamps up or down. Can any one suggest a solution as it does not seem to be in my Haynes manaul. Is it cable or fluid operated?
Thanks
Robbins

There is a manual adjustment on the back of the actuators behind the headlamp.
Pete don't care about colour, He would shag a rainbow if he could find the end of it....

you can adjust them manualy behind the head light using the oil unit thingy, the drivers side 1`s a bit of a pig
unless your lefthanded?
mind ya dont burn yourself on the back of the lights they get hot if they been on a while
just park it about 15 20 feet away from a wall and adjust away.
dont adjust the top adjuster it pulls the beem from left to right, not up and down.
hope that helps m8

I put a bid on these thinking I needed them, however I now do not. I asked the bloke to canel my bid but he would not, even though someone else has matched my price so it would not cost him a penny.

Don't bother trying to repair them. If you feel you really need cockpit adjustable headlamps, then the E34/E36 electrical system can be made to fit.
The manual adjusters on the failed hydraulic units are far better than the normal manual adjusters, but you may find they won't go quite high enough.
If so, there is a second preset adjustment in the form of the threaded metal rod that goes over to the lamp.
