hey, im 17 years old i hav bought a 316i for my first car and i love it so much that i want to do a 318is conversion but i havnt got alot of money to buy a very good condition 318is, so what i was thinking is to find a 318is that is abit battered and high milage that is cheap and changing a few things in the engine that would have worn away such as the piston rings and so on and then using the engine, gear box in my own e30. do you think that this is a good idea if so what could other things could i do to make the engine healthier ?

Damaged (written off) iS is what you want to do this conversion. Most iS engines won't require any work before you use them, except chain tensioner perhaps. 100,000 miles is nothing for a BMW engine. You should consider fitting the whole iS suspension and brakes as well.
Consider the insurance implications before you get too carried away!
