seen a diff my mates got for sale, he only wants a pint for it but im pretty cluless regarding how you actually detect what they are, could someone explain to me what his means? 37,3 6262

it means its a non-slip 3.73:1 ratio diff, unless there is an S before the 3.73 6262 then its is an LSD. should also read 3.73 not 37.3 the last numbers 6262 are only a production code. It also indicates this diff came from the factory as installed on the car (or at least a car), and is not a diff supplied from a dealer as a replacement.
