having just Zymolled the car (diamond black 318iS), I just realised that all I've done is wash, clay, polish and wax the metallic paint clear coat.

Question: what is all the horse about nourishing the paint with Braxilian palm tree wax if the clear coat is the surface that gets the treatment.
What is the thickness of the clear coat?

Cheers, Mark

thickness for your car is individual to your car

the clear coat is part of the paint

Thanks Jon
Reading your reply to the aussie dude who was using Zaino on Zinnobar, this detailing game is a lot more complicated than first realised
In comparison to a non metallic white or red that doesn't have a clear top coat, what is the go for a metallic paint finish.
As I said, after four plus hours, I was left with the impression that all I had done was polish the swirls and scratches of the clear top coat.

that is exactly what you need to do

you need to remove all the imperfections ie swirls contamination ftrom the clear coat surface

this is big work as prep is the key to dynamite finish

once you have the best you can achieve then apply your protecting choice of product

id ,after prep, use zaino z1 and then zaino z5pro followed by zaino z8 finale spray

prep is 90% of the job

in connection with the thickness of the clear top coat...
how obvious is it if the polish has gone through to the paint itself?
