i need to change the fabric on my cab (manual hood) and as anyone who has done this will know it is expensive, but i have found a cheap 2nd hand cab with an excellent roof (sorry guys its in bahrain!!) so my plan is to buy it swap the entire roof and fabrics over then simply re-sell it at hopefully at less of a loss then it would cost me to replace the roof. so has anyone done it and how easy/difficult. i am fairly handy with the spanners although only upto 17mm and have a garage with a roof capable of lifting something as heavy as a cab roof and frame (about 100-150kg??)

cheers for any advice

mr lee

Nav there are six bolts two are only accessable with the roof half folded up. you will also need a flexible drive for your socket set as the front two bolts (of the four you can see) are inaccessible otherwise. Advice (to be taken lightly!!!) take the two front ones off that face foreward into the cabin that are only visible with the roof half folded, then using the flexible drive (or a worm drive it may be called) take the front two bolts then followed by the rear bolts. dont forgat to check if there are any shims under the frame before you take the roof off, mine had plenty, the donor car had none!!??

Note i did not actually get as far as removing the roof but this is how i planned it, but in conjunction with a mate to help with lifting it should be fairly easy. (i was lucky and found a cheap as chips replacement hood!!)

good luck
